6:00 AM: Alex is tired today because he stayed up until midnight to eat last night. He was starving but didn’t want to eat because for Lent he gave up eating after 8pm. So he figured if he stayed up until midnight it would be the next day and he wouldn’t be breaking any rules. Cassiday was busy yesterday making Easter cupcakes, and she got the idea for one of her cupcakes from www.bakerella.com. Ricky Martin came out of the closet yesterday, saying he is a gay man. On Dancing with the Stars last night they saved Kate Gosselin for last, and in the footage of practices, she got in a big fight with her dance partner.
6:15 AM: Fact or bull-fact. Today we learned that Oprah has a fear of gum and has banned it in her studios. We also learned that the British drink 2.5 times more tea than the Japanese, and Henry Kissinger is an honorary Harlem Globetrotter.
6:30 AM: Four things you need to know. Austin Police are working on a proposal to get security cameras put downtown. They would cost about $13,000 per camera, but they are hoping it will help control crime in hot-spots. The U.S. Postal Service is thinking about eliminating Saturday mail delivery. It probably will start in 2011, and will help cut their deficit. With the new health care bill by 2014 if a person doesn’t have insurance, they will have to buy it. A part of this change will be that younger people will pay about 17% more for their insurance. Apple is working on a new iPhone for AT&T users that will be faster and smaller. Also, iPhones will be available soon on other providers, such as Sprint and Verizon.
6:45 AM: Sandy reads a great e-mail we got yesterday from a listener named Cole. His Dad is passing away of lung cancer, and he realized yesterday when Sandy played “Season in the Sun” that it was his Dad’s song. He wanted to thank them for the wonderful moment that the song created for him. 7:00 AM: New music that is out today from Barenaked Ladies, Rob Thomas, Alan Jackson, Usher, Erykah Badu, and Lindsay Lohan. Sara went back to talk to the kiosk guys at the mall yesterday, and they were very funny as usual. They told her about their love for our radio station, calling it “24 point 7”, and told Sara about what bar they “got lucky” in this weekend. This story about getting lucky lead Sara to teach the kiosk guys what “douche baggy guys” are.
7:20 AM: JB went to the microwave in the kitchen here at work yesterday and laughed when he saw that someone left one second on the microwave and didn’t clear it out. He said they must have been very busy if they couldn’t wait that extra second, and Sandy said that his wife does the same thing all the time. Sara does it because she can’t wait for the food and she is impatient. Cassiday says she does it because she doesn’t want to hear the buzzer go off. Apparently, this leaving time on the microwave is a female thing!
7:25 AM: Someone decided to get a group of kids to perform Scarface as a stage play, and Sandy found a video of them performing it. 8:30 AM: JB discovered yesterday that you can create an HD TV by sticking a paperclip into the antenna. Our IT guy did this yesterday to our office TV and it was shocking! He also discovered the E! Show “Pretty Wild” yesterday, which featured 3 teenaged sisters in LA who are out of control. JB did a little research and found out that one of them was involved in that group of young people who were robbing celebrities. Four things you need to know. A girl in Massachusetts committed suicide and 9 teens have been charged because it’s suspected that their bullying lead her to take her own life. 9:10 AM: Alex thought for a second that maybe he was ready to have a kid, because he was out shopping and saw cute kids with their dads. Then he got a reality check when he came home and the kids in his apartment complex had put gum on the stairs outside his door. He realized that maybe he’s not ready after all!
