I have successfully completed the My Fit Foods 21 Day Challenge. I started out at 137-8 and according to the scale in my home…when I weighed this morning…I am down to about 130!!!

I will take it! I am SOOO happy I did this challenge…I felt so many positive changes…and would recomend it to ANYONE. If you are on the fence…just do it!!

The easy part:

1. Having fresh meals all planned out – It is amazing to have everything ready to go in your fridge. I had so much time on my hands
2. Lots of food – The meals in the beginning of the day are HUGE. There are some days I can hardly finish the meals.
3. Fresh Food – I cook a lot, but I have never had the variety of meals I had with My Fit Foods. I loved knowing that every meal was a full on different meal.
4. The protein bars – I LOVE the protein bars at My Fit Foods. They are so tasty!
5. No cravings – For some reason I never craved candy or chocolate on this challenge. I assume that means that I was eating the right balance of food.
6. More energy – The first week of the program is when I noticed it the most, but eating the right food, and drinking water gives you so much energy!!

The hard part:

1. The Liver Cleanse – The liver cleanse was hard for me to drink everyday…it got easier, but it was never something I was excited about.
2. No snacking – I am a HUGE snacker…grabbing food left and right. I bet I was eating 200-300 calories snacking on all the samples at Whole Foods.
3. Not eating past 6pm – even though I was rarely hungry…I would sometimes freak out at 6 thinking…this is my last meal until breakfast. I was hungry for the first few days…then it became not such a big deal.
4. Drinking water – I have never been a big water drinker…but on the challenge you have to drink 80 ounces a day. This was rough at first…but I saw HUGE changes in my energy and skin after drinking lots of water.

What I learned:

I know I picked up a few good habits from the challenge.

1. I thought I was eating a big enough breakfast…I wasn’t. I will attempt to always eat a big bowl of oatmeal before I go to work and bring snack to eat before lunch time.

2. Speaking of snacks…I will no longer skip that 3pm snack. With My Fit Foods I preferred to eat the protein bars which were really filling.

3. No snacking – Now I will indulge occasionally, but snacking is my weakness…and it only brings tight fitting jeans. Before I take a tiny corner of cake…or a cookie in the office I will really consider if it is worth it.

4. Water – I have to drink water. Drinking water is the key.

6:00 AM: Sandy’s parents are in town this week and are taking car of Landry when Sandy and Tricia go out of town at the end of the week.  JB hasn’t worked out in a long time and feels better than ever. He is usually an adamant work out guy, but has been so busy lately with moving that he hasn’t had the time to work out and he feels great. Sara didn’t do anything all weekend and loved it. There was a lot of watching movies and TV for her, and she did get out of the house to see the new “Scott Pilgrim” movie and really liked it. Cassiday got to use a Shake Weight yesterday and was so excited. Mad Men won the Emmy for Best Drama last night and Modern Family won best comedy. Glee won 2 awards out of their 19 nominations. They opened the show with a Glee-like performance from Jimmy Fallon and lots of stars.

6:15 AM: Unknown poll.  Who would you rather be friends with—Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah, or Chelsea Handler?  We thought women would want to be friends with Oprah, because they all love her show, but you’d be surprised that the one who the majority of women picked was Ellen! The women in Austin felt the same way. Nationally, Ellen was #1, then Chelsea Handler, and Oprah come in last place.

6:30 AM: 4 things you need to know with Sara. Roger Clemens will be arraigned today in a federal court and expected to plead not guilty to the charge that he lied to congress under oath about his steroid use.  Paris Hilton was arrested Friday night for cocaine possession. Toy Story 3 has crossed the 1 billion dollar mark worldwide. Only 7 movies have ever reached this mark, and Toy Story 3 is the latest to join the club.

6:45 AM: Happy Birthday today to Cameron Diaz, Michael Chiklis, and Andy Roddick.  The smart dog breed list has come out; Australian Cattle Dog, Rottweiler, Papillion, Labrador retriever, Shetland sheepdog, Doberman, Golden retriever, German shepherd, Poodle, and The Border Collie is the #1 smartest breed of dog.  Headlines of the day. A 30 year old Massachusetts man decided to have his friend in Puerto Rico send him a kilo of cocaine inside of a hunk of bologna. The authorities still caught them, and the street value of the cocaine was $100,000. A new book called “The Male Brain” proves that men can’t help checking out hot women. Research found that the area of the brain that is responsible for sexual pursuit is 250% larger in a man’s brain than a woman’s brain.

6:55 AM: We played a video a few weeks ago of a little girl describing the noises she heard coming out of her parent’s bedroom the night before.  We got a ton of emails asking for us to replay it so this morning we played it again for the KEYE viewers to see it. 

7:05 AM: A pro golfer recently overslept and missed a gold tournament because his cell phone died and his alarm never went off. He was disqualified from a tournament the next day that had a large cash prize.  What did you sleep through that was a BIG thing to miss? One woman slept through her sister’s wedding, another man slept through the birth of his child, and the most surprising was the woman who slept through labor for her baby. The doctors had to wake her up when it was time to deliver.

7:20 AM: JB did something cool for our boss recently. Our boss had an Aeron Chair that broke, and for 3 months it’d been sitting in his office, broken and unusable. JB made it his goal to get the chair fixed, and with the help of a local business he found the broken piece the chair needed.  He surprised our boss with it on Friday and we think he’s employee of the year for doing such a nice thing.

7:30 AM: 4 things you need to know with Sara. Fantasia Barrino is pregnant with the child of a married man named Antoine.  Madonna is obsessed with Lady Gaga and she wants her to open for her on her latest world tour.  American Idol is still trying to get Elton John as a judge for the upcoming season. They said they will announce the judges in the next 3 weeks. Mad Men won the Emmy for Best Drama last night and Modern Family won best comedy. Glee won 2 awards out of their 19 nominations. 7:45 AM: Our co-worker Greg Spencer is great at making song parodies based on recent news. This morning he made us a song about Paris Hilton’s recent arrest for cocaine possession called “stupid chick” to the tune of “Day and Night”.

7:55 AM: JB tested his daughter yesterday to see if she’d stop him from committing a crime or if she’d let him do it without saying anything. JB signed up awhile back for Car2Go and he never told his daughter about it. They were walking by Lift Café and he saw one of the Car2Go cars. He said “Hey Raleigh, want to steal a car?” she didn’t even hesitate and said “uh huh”. He scanned the key and drove off because he has a membership, but was so surprised that she was totally willing to let him steal the car.

8:05 AM: one out of 7 women admits to sleeping with their boss. 37% said it gave them a career boost, but 67% say they lose all respect for someone who has an affair with a co-worker. A man living in Madrid was released from jail and was set to be deported to Kazakhstan. He cut off his penis to get hospitalized in an attempt to avoid being deported. 55% of kids ages 5-15 wish their parents would spend more time playing with them. 89% of kids would rather play with their parents than on the computer or with a video game.

8:15 AM: We did a very funny sound board call with clips of Michael Scott from The Office. We placed an ad on the casual encounters section looking for a bi-curious guy. Once someone replied, we called them back with audio clips of Steve Carrell as Michael Scott.

8:30 AM: 4 things you need to know with Sara. 8:40 AM: Alex has been selected for a member of the wellness committee. Sara is pissed because she doesn’t understand how they possibly could choose him over her to be on a committee that helps people be fit and healthy. So, we called our HR guy Brandon to find out the scoop.  Turns out Alex was picked because he actually emailed them about it, and Sara didn’t. Also, every person who emailed got picked, so the selection process wasn’t very picky.

So today we had a commercial shoot at Keye for Mix 94.7. I went to BCBG and Cass styled me up with a fancy little number. I was so excited because I feel pretty slim and trim 19 days into this challenge…so I was super ready to get in front of the camera.

6:00 AM:  Sandy brought in a picture of what his nightly ice cream sundae looks like to show on KEYE. It’s pretty legit—complete with sprinkles and other toppings!  Sara had her first improve show last night at The Hideout and it went really well. She said she got some laughs and was cracking herself up during the show. We are very proud of her. Gmail has a new phone call feature and yesterday over 1 million calls were made using the feature. It’s a free feature and you can make calls right from your computer. Bristol Palin is confirmed to be competing on Dancing with the Stars this season.

6:15 Fact or bull fact. Taser stands for Thomas A Swift’s Electric Rifle. Except for 5 early shows in Canada, Elvis never played a gig outside of the U.S. Woodrow Wilson’s wedding was catered by Chef Boyardee. 40% of American marriages include a spouse who has been previously married.  In 1961 Martha Stewart was named one of the best dressed college students in the U.S.

6:30 AM: 4 things you need to know with Sara. The Chilean miners trapped in the mine were able to send messages to their families. American Airlines was slapped with a 24.2 million dollar fine for failing to inspect something properly.  The latest career is an Internet Reputation Manager; someone who makes sure nothing bad comes up when they search your name on the internet.  Netflix unveiled their new iPhone app yesterday where if you’re a Netflix user you can now stream movies onto your phone for no additional charge.

6:45 AM: Happy Birthday to Paul Reubens (58), Alexa Vega (22), Sarah Chalky from Scrubs (34), Tony Kanal from No Doubt, and Chandra Wilson from Gray’s Anatomy.  Headlines of the day; on Tuesday a guy in California wanted to do a 25 mile swim and at certain points he was swimming through schools of jellyfish. He got stung all over his body but still finished the swim.

6:55 AM: We found a hilarious video online of a bulldog sitting and watching TV like a human would. We play it on KEYE for the TV viewers, but if you missed it, check it out on JB’s blog. It’s VERY funny!

7:05 AM: Cecily Knobler reviews the latest film releases for us every Friday. Out this week is “The Last Exorcism” which Cecily says contains a lot of clichés, but isn’t totally terrible. She graded it a C+. Also “Takers” is out this week starring Chris Brown and T.I. This film didn’t screen for critics, so that’s probably a bad sign. Also note that Avatar is being re-released in theatres today so you have another opportunity to see it in theatres.

7:20 AM: Coach Brown calls in to the show to talk about the UT Football season which kicks off in one week in Houston against Rice University. They want to get into the mindset of a Houstonian because they will be there next weekend. So he has started researching Houston to see what kind of lists they make. They’ve topped the follow lists; fattest city, worst drivers, worst traffic, most humid, most hotels with bedbugs, biggest corporate fraud, highest consumption of Big Red, most flatulent, most open sores, most unwed mothers, the bunion capitol of the world, most polluted, biggest hair, worst makeup, home of the queso eating champion, and the camel toe capitol of the world.  The only two good things that came out of Houston according to Coach are Fozzie Whitaker and Chykie Brown.

Chad Ocho Cinco has been fined 25 grand for tweeting during a football game. The producers of The Jersey Shore are creating a show called “Party Down South”, also a show about the Boston nightlife, and a series in L.A. based on the party life of Persians called “Persian Version”.

7:40 AM: What did you accidentally drink? When JB was a kid he accidentally chugged water with fish poop in it thinking it was iced tea. We got some hilarious calls from people who accidentally drank motor oil, urine, and flies.
