6:00 AM: Sandy’s car broke down yesterday and he was stranded with his baby daughter in Lakeway. Luckily, they got towed quickly and it was a day that was lovely outside and comfortable for the baby. JB was explaining to a new Austinite yesterday that October is the best month in Austin. October is great because the weather finally cools down, and JB says there’s no better month to live here. This weekend Alex is having a watching party for the UT/OU game and wants to have corn dogs there but he doesn’t want to get the “gross ones” from Wal-Mart. Sara bought silly bandz for herself and for Cassiday to wear because they were talking about them yesterday. Cassiday saw a cool show on the Discovery Channel yesterday called “Man Woman Wild” where a husband and wife team are dropped in a remote location and have to use survival skills to get out alive.
6:10 AM: White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel might announce Friday that he is leaving his position to run for Mayor of Chicago. The owner of the Segway Company died by riding a Segway off a cliff at his estate in London over the weekend. Gloria Stewart who played the elderly Rose in Titanic passed away yesterday at the age of 100. She is the oldest actress to ever be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
6:20 AM: We got an email from a guy named Howard who is in a bit of a dilemma. His dog hates his new girlfriend, and this is the first time he’s ever seen his dog act aggressive towards someone before. He doesn’t know if he should trust the dog’s intuition and dump the girlfriend, or if he should just ignore it and stay with her. We took 5 calls and every single person said that an animal’s intuition is ALWAYS right and he should break up with his girlfriend.
6:30 AM: 4 things you need to know with Sara. George Lopez and his wife are splitting after 17 years of marriage. She donated her kidney to him during their marriage, and we wonder if she’s going to get it back in the divorce. Mobile Loaves and Fishes is trying to find property to build a trailer park for homeless people.
6:45 AM: Happy Birthday today to Hillary Duff, Mira Sorvino, Jeanine Garofolo, and Ben E. King. Jeffrey Jones who played Principal Rooney in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off has a birthday today, but he’s a real creep. He is a registered sex offender who has gone off the radar and has failed to report to the police.
6:50 AM: Headlines that don’t make the 4 things. A Pennsylvania man who is an assistant principal was just arrested for having an inappropriate relationship with a 14 year old male student. We put his picture up on KEYE because the guy has a total Justin Bieber haircut. Anither guy has the ultimate mug shot. This man was listening to a rock station in Davenport Iowa and the radio DJ jokingly said they’d give someone $100,000 if they got the station logo tattooed on their forehead. The guy tattooed the logo on his forehead and sued the radio station when they didn’t pay up. He never showed up in court, which we think is ridiculous because he probably actually would have won some money.
6:55 AM: What’s the theme? We play 3 songs and you have to figure out what the common thread is. Today the theme was tractors.
7:00 AM: The National News report.
7:05 AM: Who is your weird crush? Everyone has a crush on someone who maybe isn’t conventionally attractive, or someone who other people just don’t “get”. JB’s is reporter Christianne Amanphour, Sandy’s is the late Rue McClanahan, Sara’s is Kevin James, Alex’s is Gillian Anderson, and Cassiday’s is Lyle Lovett. Our listeners had some good ones too, including; Weird Al, Seth Rogan, Alex Trebek, and the apple from the Fruit of the Loom commercials.
7:25 AM: Google Trends; Titanic, Sound of Music, Max Wineberg, and Segway. Why were these topics the highest searched topics on Google yesterday? Sara hit the streets to see if Austinites knew why. Titanic was being searched because the actress who played the elderly Rose passed away yesterday. The Sound of Music was being searched because Oprah is reuniting the original cast for an upcoming episode of her show. Max Wineberg was being searched because yesterday it was announced that he will not be on Conan O’Briens’ new show. Segway was being searched because the owner of Segway drove a Segway off of a cliff and died.
7:30 AM: 4 things you need to know with Sara. Sarah Palin was booed yesterday when she came into sit in the audience of Dancing with the Stars. The most sought after celebrity interview right now is Mel Gibson’s ex Oksana. She’s been pretty silent lately, but Oprah and many other media outlets are trying to get an interview with her. There is a rumor that Paula Abdul might get her own tribute episode on Glee. Gwyneth Paltrow, John Stamos, and Britney Spears will all make appearances on upcoming episodes. In the upcoming film Black Swan Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman have a make out scene and they said they had to take shots before doing the scene because they’re best friends.
7:45 AM: Yesterday the “mystery momma” finally called JB and Sandy back. They talked to her to try and get to the bottom of things. They put her on speaker phone and all 3 of the guys talked to her. After she talked to them for awhile and hearing their voices, she asked if any of them were black men, and when they said no, she realized that she had a wrong phone number.
7:52 AM: We did a soundboard prank call with Peter Griffin’s voice from Family Guy.

8:30 AM: 4 things you need to know with Sara. BREAKING NEWS. APD is saying there has been a shooting on the UT campus, but we don’t have any more information at the moment. 8:45 AM: We have reports that there is a shooter on the UT Campus this morning, and through new sources and talking to Sara’s roommate on campus we found out that once the University knew about the gunman, text alerts were sent to students, and they put the campus on lockdown. They sounded the emergency alarm and a voice telling them to stay inside their buildings. Around 8:50 AM we received word that the gunman had shot himself on the 6th floor of the Perry Castaneda Library.
9:00 AM: We continue to report breaking news for the rest of our show about the shooting incident on the UT campus. We talked to Police Chief Art Acevedo about the status on campus, and he said the gunman was shot and killed himself in the Library, but they were still searching for a possible 2nd suspect and would go building to building to search and make sure everything was safe.
Sara and I are BIG fans of the food trailer craze in Austin. We’ve eaten at a lot of them, and this year we even did a day long tour of food trailers and documented the whole thing on video.
We know it’s hard to narrow down the choices when there’s more than 1,600 (that’s right, 1,600) mobile food vendors permits (Thanks to the crew over at Holy Cacao for letting me know it’s actually 1,600 PERMITS, not actual trailers in their blog) in the Austin area. We’ve narrowed it down to a list of our favorite places to get our street grub cravings fulfilled, and even listed a few that we’re bound to be trying in the future. Gordoughs
Sara: I think this is THE best trailer in Austin. The donuts at Gordoughs are made to order and served hot. Beware it will take you a long time to decide which donut you want…I suggest the Funky Monkey
Cass: I personally like The Puddin’ doughnut, but am dying to try the Flying Pig because I heart bacon. Gordough’s is awesome!

Sara: One of the fanciest trailers around. The chef shops locally and serves food until it is gone. How does a ‘grilled half of quail with texas rice, apple and cheddar’ sound?
Cass: Plus, this trailer is right next to Gordough’s AND across the street from Alamo Drafthouse. I’ve planned your whole evening for you: Dinner at Odd Duck, drinks and a movie at Alamo, and then back to Gordough’s for dessert!
Holy Cacao
Sara: I love cake balls on a stick. For days I am craving a bit of chocolate (bc how bad can 1 ball really be) I treat myself at Holy Cacao. My favorite is the Diablo cake ball. BTW – they just started selling these in the Barton Creek Mall…at a kiosk!
Cass: I LOVE the cake balls and they are the perfect portable dessert. Also, they make a Cake Shake, which is a milkshake made with bit of cake in it. So good and so sinful! Get in touch with your wild side at Holy Cacao.

Owned by the people behind Hudson’s on the Bend. This is the only way I can afford to eat food from Hudson’s, and it’s DAMN good. Get a hot and crunchy cone in any variety—my two favorites are the chicken and the avocado.
La Boite
One of the cuter ones in town, La Boite (French for “the box”) operated out of a shipping crate and serves amazing pastries and coffee. My favorite is the macarons.

Operating out of a double -decker red bus and serving Philly Cheese steaks, this East Side Eatery has caught my attentuon and I can’t wait to check it out soon. I heard they even have movie nights and show movies projected on the side of the bus–great idea!

My friend – who has a blog called http://hiplip.wordpress.com/ came home from Vegas with some high quality, fashion forward, and sophisticated items from Forever 21.
I went to Barton Creek Mall today and learned they only carry the brand in Austin at the Domain store.
The sub-brand of the store is a bit more pricey…but still under $50.
Don’t be afraid of Forever 21. If you are smart…no one will ever know you didn’t spend a fortune. There is NOTHING better than someone complimenting a piece of clothing…you know you got at Forever.
